Your Visit to Fort Ticonderoga

Fort Ticonderoga is a special place for families to enjoy and learn in a beautiful setting. Families with young children can visit and know that their children will love the action and excitement.

When you visit you will be given a daily schedule that lists the programs and activities for the day. On a daily basis the Fort offers guided tours lead by costumed interpreters, musket demonstrations (weather permitting), and daily programs for children and families led by staff.

The costumed interpreters represent 18th century soldiers and refugee women.

In July and August, families see and hear the Fort's Fife & Drum Corps perform and march in the Parade Ground. Following the concert, visitors watch and learn as the Corps fire the cannon. Special Family Exploration Series are available every Monday and Thursday in July & August at 10:00 a.m. Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events, as we host reenactments and other educational events throughout the season.

Mount Defiance

King's Garden

Located on 1,000 acres in New York, the Fort property includes the Carillon Battlefield, earthwork redoubts, and two outer dependencies open to the public, Mount Defiance and Mount Hope. The Fort owns another 1,000 acres in Vermont, including the northern half of Mount Independence, a historic site maintained by the State of Vermont.

Located in the shadow of Fort Ticonderoga is the c. 1920s pleasure garden called The King's Garden. Open to the public from June1 -  October 13, 2008, the garden was designed by the famed female landscape architect, Marian Cruger Coffin. Other gardens open to the public include the 18th century Garrison Garden, a Native American Garden, and a Children's Garden.
