Support the Fort: Fundraising Events

The Fort Ticonderoga Association engages, educates, and entertains visitors by sharing the authentic stories of diverse cultures that met at the Ticonderoga peninsula in war and in peace.

One way the Fort both educates individuals and gains support is by holding special fundraising events that entertain as well as educate. We hope one of these events will pique your interest!

Officers' Dinner 2010

Guests at the Garden Party, 2010

Ticonderoga Ball

The Ticonderoga Ball, organized by the Black Watch Society, is held annually in New York City the first Friday in March. Music, dancing, and a lavish dinner at the Union League Club make for a festive black-tie (kilts and decorations optional!) evening. Proceeds support Fort Ticonderoga’s vital mission to ensure that present and future generations learn from the struggles, sacrifices, and victories that shaped the nations of North America and changed world history. Special guests and a posh Silent Auction highlight the gala. The 2011 Ticonderoga Ball is scheduled for March 4th.

Officers' Dinner

Although period dress is not required at the annual Officers' Dinner, a variety of 18th-century costumes are worn by a number of men and women alike. The historic theme is carried through with period music and a sumptuous menu based on colonial dishes. The Officers' Dinner brings together friends of Fort Ticonderoga from the local area and the far reaches of the United States and Canada to enjoy each others' company and to support the Fort.

A fun silent auction features reproduction 18th-century items donated by Sutlers; modern items, places to go, and things to see donated by area merchants and other organizations; and unique items donated by friends of the Fort. One of the highlights of the evening is a live auction to determine the shooting of the Fort's cannon, signaling an end to the cocktail hour.

Annual Garden Party

If there were ever a more perfect place for a garden party, we have not seen it! Designed in 1920 as an estate pleasure garden for the Pell family's home, the Pavilion, the brick-walled formal King's Garden is always at its best for this lovely late-afternoon affair. Today the garden links the Fort's colonial history to the story of its preservation, spearheaded by the Pells in 1909.

Each year a theme is chosen for the Garden Party, carried through to decorations and the attire worn by many guests, each vying to win one of the awards in the hat contest (enjoy the slide show of the 2010 Garden Party in White)! In 2011, Art in the Garden will celebrate the Fort's newest exhibit and will feature a "wet auction" introducing area artists and artisans. A lavish display of tea sandwiches, desserts, liquid refreshments, and live music contribute to a thoroughly enjoyable, and perhaps even magical, event that helps to support this important and inspiring site.
